Dental Extractions
If you have a damaged or painful tooth, an extraction of that tooth may be required. An extraction performed by an oral surgeon is a relatively simple procedure with a fairly short recovery time. Most extractions are followed up with a dental implant, a full or partial denture, or a crown.
Bone Grafting
After a tooth extraction, the socket will usually fill in naturally with new bone. However, due to various circumstances, healing may not be this simple. Sometimes a bone graft is necessary to help your body fill in the empty socket. Different types of materials can be used in this process including either natural or synthetic bone. This new foundation can serve as a solid base for a dental implant.
TMJ
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is located in front o fthe ear where the skull and lower jaw meet. It allwos the lower jaw to move and function properly. TMJ disorders are common and have a wide variety of symptoms. Our oral surgeons can determine the proper treatment for your TMJ pain.
Jaw Surgery
Corrective jaw surgery is performed by Oral Surgeons to correct a variety of minor and major skeletal and dental irregularities, including the misalignment of jaws and teeth, which, in turn, can improve chewing, speaking and breathing. Even though surgery is performed to correct functional problems, a patient’s appearance may be drastically enhanced as well.
Dental Exposures
Sometimes teeth become impacted, which means they are "stuck" and unable to grow above the gumline into normal occlusion. The surgery to expose the impacted tooth involves removing tissue and possibly some bone around the tooth. A bracket may be placed on the tooth so it can be tractioned into normal occlusion.
Oral Pathology
Our surgeons are trained to monitor the color and texture of the inside lining of your mouth. They look for any type of discoloration or possible growths that could potentially lead to any variety of oral disease including cancer. If you notice any type of irregularity inside of your mouth, please contact one of our surgeons immediately to receive a proper diagnosis.
